Lessons Learned from the Exxon Valdez Oil Disaster

Pensacola, Fla.Be Ready Alliance Coordinating for Emergencies, BRACE, is pleased to add Dr. Steve Picou to the program at the BRACE Annual Meeting which will be held from 11:30 am-1:00 pm, Tuesday, June 29 at First Baptist Church in downtown Pensacola.

 

Dr. Picou is a professor at the University of South Alabama and has studied the sociological impact of disasters for the past 30 years, including the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Prince William Sound. He is an expert when it comes to technologically sourced disasters and community ramifications.

 

Also presenting will be Dr. Douglas Zimmerman, President of VisionLink, a leader in providing community resource management systems. VisionLink works to create community-based partnerships to better connect needs and assets for individuals and families.  Particular focus is placed on links between education, workforce, disaster relief and social services.
