Escambia Long-Term Recovery Group
When disasters strike, we are ready to help our community recover as quickly as possible.
More than 250 community partners make up the Escambia County Long-Term Recovery Group led by BRACE.
Long-term recovery groups generally are made up of government, faith-based, nonprofit, community-based, private sector, and voluntary agencies. Their goal is to help affected families access resources for their recovery. The recovery groups can connect disaster survivors with organizations that offer a wide variety of assistance, including food, clothing, and grants to help pay for security deposits and past-due utility bills. They can also direct disaster survivors to groups that will perform tasks, such as tarping roofs, mucking and gutting disaster-damaged homes or clearing debris and tree stumps from yards in order to restore homes to a safe, secure & sanitary environment.
Functions of LTRG
The Escambia Long-Term Recovery Group activates upon a major incident, such as a flood or hurricane. As donations and funds come in, Disaster Case Managers hear needs of the community and the Unmet Needs Committee determines where funding requests should be implemented throughout the county.
